The Creative Development Association/Asociația pentru Dezvoltare Creativă is recruiting facilitators for the Model United Nations Moldova Conference, MDMUN 2020. If you believe you are well-informed on topics like international politics, geopolitics, the functioning of the United Nations and diplomacy, this is your chance to put this knowledge to work in an ambitious, world-famous type of project.
MDMUN is an extracurricular conference, aimed at educating its participants on the practices and mechanisms of the UN Organisation. This year, the conference will include two committees of the 6 subsidiaries to the General Assembly: 1st Committee- Disarmament and International Security (DISEC) and the 3rd Committee – Social, Cultural and Humanitarian (SOCHUM). These committees have the role of tackling relevant topics (which will be prepared by the organisers), of maintaining a productive, active discussion and of finalising the session by adopting one or more resolutions.
After forming the delegations, each of you will be allocated a certain country. This country will be represented by 4 ambassadors. Your role will be purely advisory, one of „experts” that are available to the delegates in case they need advice on Rules of Procedure, eventual ideas for debating, talking points, negotiating strategies etc. Your mission is to make the process as easy as possible for the delegates, ensuring this through your well-documented assistance on the topic. Nevertheless, final decisions, speeches and the delegates’ activity within the committee sessions will be at the discretion of the participants, which in their turn will be evaluated for presence and participation.
The online conference will take place between November 24-28.
Until then, the CDA and MDMUN team will organise meetings and trainings which will prepare you for the role that you are about to undertake during the conference. These will take place during November 15-25.
— Student of a relevant, topic-related degree- International Relations, Law, Political Science etc;
— Experience within Model UN and/or debating will serve as a bonus;
— Interest in discovering more about Model UN, the Sustainable Development Goals, debating;
— Availability for participating throughout the whole programme: training sessions, online conference, mentoring sessions with the delegates;
