Call for active young people from Moldova!
Creative Development Association/Asociația pentru Dezvoltare Creativă is inviting you to MDMUN 2021!
This is a unique chance to experience the role of high-ranking diplomats, representing their country within the most important international structure – the United Nations.
Model United Nations Moldova, known as the MDMUN, is an extracurricular conference whose purpose is educating about the activity of the United Nations. Acting as representatives of a country, international agency or a political or social entity, you will take part in debates, individual case studies, and documentation on current topics in geopolitics, environmental protection, human rights, economy, security, society, culture and many more.
This year, the session will consist of two committees, selected from the total of six subsidiaries of the General Assembly:
The United Nations General Assembly First Committee (also known as the Disarmament and International Security Committee or DISEC)
The United Nations General Assembly Third Committee (also known as the Social, Humanitarian and Cultural Committee or SOCHUM)
Being created for advisory purposes, these committees have the role of addressing relevant issues (which will be prepared in advance by the organizers), maintaining a productive discussion and concluding the session with the adoption of one or more resolutions. The topics and study guides will be shared after the selection of delegates will be done.
As representatives of the countries that will be assigned to you, your responsibility will be to document yourself properly and extensively, going beyond the general information that will be provided to you in the study guides. Thus, using this knowledge, you will contribute to lobbying activities, debates, chaired or non-chaired meetings, representing the position and interests of the countries that delegated you. Finally, our expectation is that you will reach a consensus embodied in the resolutions that will be forwarded to the Chairs of your committees.
The ONLINE conference will take place between October 27 — 30, 2021.
Active young people eager to learn and discover new things are invited to apply to the MDMUN 2021! During the conference, delegates will be split into small teams of 10 countries. Each group of delegates will be guided by a mentor with experience in the field.
After the conference, the ambassador delegates of the countries within MDMUN will share their gained experiences and information about the Sustainable Development Goals with young people from their localities. Furthermore, the delegates will be encouraged to open debate and MUN clubs within their schools/youth centers.
